The Irish Research Council’s New Foundations programme has funded me to hire a Research Assistant part time for 4 .5 months from February to May/June of this year.
INET have funded me to build a stock-flow consistent model for Ireland. One component of the model that we now realize we need is an agent-based foundation for some of the markets within the model.
Your duties, your pay, my expectations: You have 4.5 months to help us write code, gather data, program the model, and work on papers describing your findings, in order to speed up our work on devising an efficient and novel stock flow consistent model for Ireland. We’ll pay you the total value of the grant, around 6,000 euros. You’ll work independently and as part of a team, directed by myself and Dr Tiou Tagba Aliti. You’re disciplined, focused, and want to work on new ideas and new methods that we haven’t figured out how to do yet. You won’t be making the tea unless you want a cup yourself. You won’t be a coding monkey per se, but we’ll need you to design and code an agent-based model, and that will be the main output of your time with us. You’ll hit the ground running if you can code in R, Mathematica, or Eviews (or better, all three). You’ll get experience writing journal articles, software documentation, and solving important modelling problems. You can work remotely most of the time, or here at the KBS, whatever gets your best work done, though we’ll have at least bi-weekly meetings either here at the KBS or on Skype. These will be important to keep the project moving.
Email me with your CV, a writing sample, and a code sample if you’d like to be shortlisted for a chat to learn more.
